Postdoctoral Position in Sonic Interaction Design for Sleep Technology at KTH Royal Institute of Technology
KTH Royal Institute of Technology is offering a postdoctoral position in sonic interaction design for sleep technology within the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. The research project aims to develop sound-based, personalised, and adaptive sleep interventions to enhance sleep quality across sleep onset, the sleep period, and awakening. The postdoc will advance, evaluate, and demonstrate three interactive sonic prototypes designed to support sleep, working with a multidisciplinary team with expertise in sound, computing, health, and sleep.
Key research areas include sonic interaction design, sound design, participatory design, computational artefacts, and health technology. The role involves participatory design with stakeholders such as user groups, healthcare organisations, and sound design professionals, and evaluating prototypes using both objective and subjective measures. Dissemination of research results through academic publications and public events is expected.
Applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent in sonic interaction design, with documented postdoctoral research experience in sound design, participatory design with sound, interactive sound models, and evaluation of sound in interaction. Preferred qualifications include a recent doctoral degree (within three years), interest in neuroscience and sleep, independent research skills, teamwork, communication abilities, and awareness of diversity and gender equality issues.
The position is full-time, temporary (up to two years), and based in Stockholm, Sweden. KTH offers a creative and dynamic environment with good working conditions and attractive benefits. The application deadline is March 15, 2026. For more information, contact Professor Sandra Pauletto at [email protected].
To apply, submit your CV, publication list, PhD certificate (with translation if needed), and a brief statement of research interests via KTH's recruitment system. Ensure your application is complete and submitted by the deadline.
