PhD Position in Glycobiology of Lymphatic Vessels at ETH Zurich

The Halin lab at ETH Zurich is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to investigate the Glycobiology of Lymphatic Vessels. This research will focus on understanding how protein-bound carbohydrates shape the glycocalyx of lymphatic endothelial cells and influence their interactions with immune cells. The project will utilize advanced techniques such as mass spectrometry, FACS, and electrophoresis to analyze the glycocalyx and study immune cell interactions both in lymph node tissues and in vitro. Applicants should hold a Master's degree in Biology, Biomedicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field. The ideal candidate is curiosity-driven, creative, an independent thinker, fluent in English, and eager to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. The position is fully funded and based at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, ETH Zurich, Switzerland, a leading institution in scientific research and education. Key research areas include Glycobiology, Lymphatic Vessels, Endothelial Cells, Immune Cell Interactions, and the application of advanced analytical techniques. This opportunity is ideal for candidates interested in interdisciplinary research at the interface of biology, medical science, and pharmaceutical sciences. To apply, candidates should submit their application via the ETH job portal. The application deadline is December 10, 2025. For more information, refer to the official job posting and the LinkedIn announcement by Vivianne Otto, Senior scientific collaborator and lecturer at ETH Zurich.
