Postdoctoral Position in Skin Bioengineering and Regenerative Medicine at CEA-Irig (Grenoble, France)

A postdoctoral position is available in Skin Bioengineering and Regenerative Medicine at the Biosciences and bioenGineering for hEalth Laboratory (BGE), part of CEA-Irig and Université Grenoble Alpes in Grenoble, France. The successful candidate will join the Bioengineered Skin-France initiative, focusing on the development of next-generation skin substitutes with enhanced immunotolerance, vascularization, and regenerative potential. The research is highly translational, with direct preclinical and clinical applications, and will be conducted at the intersection of advanced skin models, organoid technologies, and molecular engineering. Key responsibilities include developing and optimizing skin organoid models by integrating keratinocytes, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells; performing cell culture and maintaining skin cell lines under chemically defined conditions; applying CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing to engineer cells with immunomodulatory properties; conducting molecular and cellular biology experiments such as sequencing, immunophenotyping, and transcriptomic analysis; collaborating on preclinical animal models (mouse and porcine xenografts) to evaluate graft functionality; and ensuring compliance with GMP guidelines for bioengineered skin products. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or a related field, with hands-on experience in skin cell culture. Expertise in keratinocytes and fibroblasts handling, organoid models, or 3D tissue engineering is a strong advantage. Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, especially CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, and familiarity with sequencing technologies and data interpretation are expected. Certification to work with animal models in preclinical research will be positively considered. Candidates should also demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills, maintain a comprehensive lab notebook, and adhere to health and safety regulations. The position is for 18 months and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research at the interface of biotechnology, regenerative medicine, and translational skin research. The laboratory is part of a world-class research environment in Grenoble, France. Applications are considered on an ongoing basis until the position is filled. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, CV with publications, and contact information for three references to the contacts provided in the announcement. For more information, visit the CEA-Irig LinkedIn page or the detailed position description. Contacts: Pr Walid Rachidi ([email protected]) and Dr Marie Viguier ([email protected]).
