Research Assistant Professor positions

The Mathematics Department at the University of Tennessee Knoxville is seeking to fill two non-tenure track Research Assistant Professor (postdoctoral) positions, starting August 1, 2026. These are nine-month academic year appointments, renewable for up to three years. The positions are open to all areas of mathematical sciences, and candidates will be ranked based on the quality of their research and potential for interaction with departmental faculty. Both research and teaching are expected as part of the role. The department has experienced significant growth and increased research prominence, and is expected to continue expanding. Knoxville offers a vibrant, diverse environment with cultural attractions, a low cost of living, and proximity to natural parks. Applicants must have earned a PhD or equivalent in mathematical sciences between January 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026, and must demonstrate potential for excellence in research and teaching.
