PhD in Organic Synthesis and Supramolecular Chemistry (Boron-based Molecular Assemblies)

A fully funded PhD position is available at Université de Rennes, France, in the field of organic synthesis and supramolecular chemistry. The research project focuses on the synthesis and properties of new molecular assemblies with boron, including the development of rotaxanes, macrocycles, and other advanced molecular systems. The project aims to create new supramolecular compounds and study their dynamic and optical properties, with a particular emphasis on boron-based compounds and their exceptional fluorescence characteristics. The successful candidate will join the Equipe CORINT at the Institut des Sciences Chimiques de Rennes, working under the supervision of Professors Fabienne Berrée, Barbara Le Grel, and Yann Trolez. The research will involve organic synthesis, supramolecular chemistry, and the study of dynamic and optical properties of molecular assemblies. The position is ideal for students with a strong background in organic synthesis and an interest in supramolecular chemistry and materials science. Applicants must hold a Master's degree in Chemistry or a related field and demonstrate strong skills in organic synthesis. Experience or interest in supramolecular chemistry is highly desirable. The position is fully funded for 36 months by Université de Rennes, providing an excellent opportunity to conduct advanced research in an international academic environment. To apply, candidates should send a CV, motivation letter (in French or English), and the marks/ranking of their Master's degree to Professor Yann Trolez at [email protected]. The application deadline is 9 March 2026, and the position is expected to start in October 2026. Keywords: organic synthesis, supramolecular chemistry, boron, macrocycle, rotaxane, molecular assemblies, dynamic properties, optical properties, chemistry, materials science.
