About this position

The School of Economics and Finance at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) is hosting its 8th annual Economics and Finance Workshop for PhD and postdoctoral students. This event, organized by QMUL doctoral students, aims to foster a stimulating environment for early-career researchers to present their work, receive detailed feedback, and engage in academic discussions. The workshop welcomes participants from all areas of Economics and Finance, with a focus on research topics such as Macroeconomics, Econometrics, Finance, Theoretical Microeconomics, and Applied Microeconomics.

The two-day workshop will feature parallel and plenary sessions, with each presentation followed by a discussion led by a PhD student. Keynote speakers include Professor Izaana Rahman (London School of Economics) and Professor Samuel Ahete (Imperial College London Business School), both of whom are leading academics in the field. The event is supported by ESRC, LISS-DTP, and QMUL.

PhD and postdoctoral students interested in participating must submit a full paper or extended abstract by 13 March 2026 (11:59pm GMT). All submissions will be reviewed, and feedback will be provided to authors. Selected papers will be presented in plenary sessions and discussed by an expert faculty member. The best paper will be awarded and presented in a special session.

Participants will be provided with breakfast and lunch during the workshop, and a dinner will be organized on the evening of 21 May 2026. The event does not provide travel or accommodation funding, and there is no tuition or stipend as this is a workshop, not a funded position. The workshop is an excellent opportunity for early-career researchers to network, receive feedback, and engage with leading academics in Economics and Finance.
