Study program: PhD study in Chemical Engineering, Yeungnam University (YU), Gyeongsan, Korea.
Starting date: 1st September 2026,

Who We’re Looking For, Motivated PhD candidates (~ 4 years) with training in Chemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacy, Biology, or Biotechnology.
Required for application: Final M.S. degree certificate and official English score.
Preference for PhD applicants for long-term projects; a 2-year M.S. option may be considered.
For the upcoming intake, we are recruiting only GKS students who meet the criteria below.

R-GKS (Global Korea Scholarship)
Support: ~ USD 1,050/month stipend + tuition coverage.
Location & cost of living: Gyeongsan is a quiet, affordable city (~ USD 150/month for basic APT rent).
Program length: 1 year Korean language training + 3 years degree program (PhD track).
YU quota for R-GKS: 30 students/year; Providence K-GKS graduate program: 10 students/year.
Eligibility Guidelines: GPA > 3.7/4.0 and English proficiency IELTS 7 / TOEFL 100 / TOEIC 900 or TOPIK 3.

Research Areas: Antimicrobial and antifungal agents, biofilms, biotechnology, nanobiotechnology, AI-assisted biotechnology, and related topics.

Our group currently includes 6 Korean researchers and 35 international researchers, including 10 GKS students from 8 countries. Korea is dynamic in culture and research. Lab members generally work 9:00-18:00 (Mon-Fri), with occasional weekend hours for maintaining living organisms, and are productive (typically ~1 decent paper per person per year).

Applicants should be motivated and interested in long-term PhD projects. For the upcoming intake, only GKS (Global Korea Scholarship) students who meet these criteria are eligible.
