About this position
We are seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious PhD candidate to join our dynamic research team to work on the development of advanced computational models and multi-objective optimisation techniques aimed at improving cardiovascular stent design.
Project Overview: Cardiovascular stents are critical medical devices used to treat coronary artery disease, yet challenges remain in optimising their performance for durability, effectiveness, and biocompatibility. This project aims to address these challenges using cutting-edge computational methods, including finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and multi-objective optimisation frameworks. The candidate will develop novel computational approaches to balance conflicting performance objectives such as structural integrity, flexibility, blood flow dynamics, and biological response.
Key Objectives:
- Develop high-fidelity computational models to predict stent mechanical performance and blood flow characteristics.
- Implement multi-objective optimisation algorithms to identify optimal design parameters.
- Validate computational predictions through experimental collaborations.
- Investigate innovative stent geometries and materials to enhance patient outcomes.
Candidate Profile:
- Strong background in engineering, applied mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Experience or interest in computational modelling (FEA, CFD) and optimisation methods.
- Programming skills (Python, MATLAB, or similar).
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Passion for interdisciplinary research and collaboration.
What We Offer:
- Supervision by world-leading experts in cardiovascular engineering and computational modelling.
- Access to state-of-the-art computational facilities and clinical collaboration networks.
- Opportunities for conference participation, industry engagement, and international collaborations.
- Vibrant, supportive research environment fostering professional growth and academic excellence.
Application Details: Interested candidates are invited to submit their CV, academic transcripts, and a brief statement of research interests.
Join us in advancing cardiovascular engineering to significantly impact patient care and treatment outcomes.
