The KTH Royal Institute of Technology invites applications for a doctoral student position in AI and the future of teacher education, located in Stockholm, Sweden. This opportunity is part of the LEaP (Learning, Education and Pedagogy) research group within the Department of Learning in Engineering Sciences, School of ITM. The project focuses on advancing research capacity in teacher education across eight Swedish higher education institutions, with a strong emphasis on science and technology didactics, digital pedagogies, and supporting Sweden’s national STEM strategy and AI mandate.
The doctoral student will contribute to raising the standard of evidence-based science and technology teaching in Swedish classrooms, addressing challenges such as declining student interest in STEM subjects and the need for robust subject knowledge in teacher training. The research group offers a collaborative environment with expertise in pedagogy, mathematics, technology, and computing. The position is also affiliated with the National Doctoral School in Science and Technology Education Research for Teacher Educators (FontD).
Supervision will be provided by Professor Arnold Pears. The position is full-time and temporary, with employment for up to four years, renewable annually or biannually.
