About this position

This fully funded PhD position at KTH Royal Institute of Technology focuses on the crystallization of critical raw materials within the context of sustainable metal recovery. The project is situated in the Department of Chemical Engineering and is part of the BioGeoMetals research school, which brings together interdisciplinary expertise from geology, biology, chemistry, process engineering, and environmental science. The research aims to develop advanced crystallization processes for biomining, targeting the recovery of valuable metals from mining waste, tailings, and run-off water in Sweden.

As a doctoral student, you will engage in both fundamental and applied research, including the design and experimental study of model systems and real-world applications. The project is funded by the Swedish Research Council and involves close collaboration with Luleå University of Technology and an international advisory group.
