Join my research team in an exciting project funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), where we’re pioneering innovative solutions at the intersection of health, nutrition, and nano-emulsion science.
?? Position: PhD Student (Faculty of Land and Food Systems, University of British Columbia, Canada)
?? Start Date: September 2025
About the Research Program:
Focused on nano-emulsion engineering and in-vitro digestion of food bioactives, we develop encapsulated lipid and lipophilic bioactives to enhance drug delivery systems and satiety responses.
?? Emphasizing plant-based excipients, lipid sources, and advanced homogenization techniques to revolutionize functional foods and drug delivery systems.
Key Responsibilities:
? Conduct experiments on emulsion preparation, characterization, and in-vitro digestion
? Perform cell culture studies with Caco-2 and STC-1 cell lines
? Analyze data, publish papers, and present at conferences
? Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
Qualifications:
?? Required:
MSc in Food Science, Chemical/Biological Engineering, Biochemistry, or related fields
Strong background in emulsion technology, lipid science, or GIT digestion studies
Hands-on experience with microscopy, HPLC, spectroscopy
Excellent communication skills
? Preferred:
Experience with cell culture models (Caco-2, STC-1)
Knowledge of food bioactive encapsulation or sensory evaluation
