Funding
All studentships are fully funded, covering tuition fees and an annual stipend. Home fees students receive an enhanced stipend of £30,780 per year (UKRI rate of £20,780 plus £10,000 TechExpert supplement) for four years. Overseas students receive the standard UKRI stipend (£20,780). Additional support includes approximately £17,000 for travel, equipment, and materials, £8,000 for placements, and further funding for compute and hosting costs. Requirements
Applicants should have at least a 2:1 (upper second class) undergraduate and/or a Master’s degree in a relevant subject such as computer science, informatics, artificial intelligence, design, human computer interaction, linguistics, speech sciences, law, governance, regulation, digital humanities, or information science. Applicants from other backgrounds with relevant skills and expertise are also encouraged to apply. Professional experience or research posts may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications. No detailed research proposal or confirmed supervisor is required at application stage. Overseas applicants are eligible but will receive standard UKRI stipend only. English language requirements apply as per University of Edinburgh standards.
