About this position
This is a master’s internship opportunity (M1 or M2) at Université Paris-Saclay, focused on the fabrication of nanofluidic TEM liquid cells incorporating carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The project is based at the Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (C2N), Université Paris-Saclay / CNRS, and supervised by Zhengyu Zhang and Federico Panciera. The research aims to experimentally probe nanofluidic transport phenomena in CNTs, including ultrafast water flow, proton transport, and quantum friction, using advanced nanofabrication and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques.
The intern will participate directly in cleanroom fabrication and device integration, including CNT deposition on SiN membranes, thin-film deposition, lithography, microfluidic integration, and characterization using optical microscopy and TEM. The project is ideal for students interested in experimental nano-physics, nanofabrication, and materials science, and offers a strong possibility to continue as a PhD project on liquid transport through CNTs.
The research environment includes SPMS – CentraleSupélec / CNRS and C2N – Université Paris-Saclay / CNRS, providing access to state-of-the-art facilities and interdisciplinary collaboration. The internship is paid (~660 EUR/month for 3 months, starting in June). Candidates should be highly motivated M1 or M2 students in physics, materials science, or engineering. Prior experience in cleanroom work, lithography, or thin-film deposition is a plus but not required.
To apply, send your CV to Zhengyu Zhang ([email protected]) and Federico Panciera ([email protected]). This position is suitable for students seeking hands-on research experience in nanoscience, with the potential to transition to a PhD project.
