About this position
North Carolina State University’s Department of Mathematics is offering a postdoctoral position as part of its NSF-funded Research Training Group (RTG) in Uncertainty Quantification for Life Sciences (UQ4Life). This interdisciplinary opportunity is designed for early-career researchers interested in the intersection of mathematics, statistics, and life sciences. The successful candidate will conduct research in areas such as Bayesian modeling, spatial statistics, mathematical modeling, data integration, uncertainty quantification, and machine learning, with broad applications to the life sciences.
Depending on their background and interests, the postdoc will be paired with a research mentor from the RTG faculty, which includes Brian Reich and Erin Schliep (Statistics) and Mette Olufsen and Kevin Flores (Mathematics). The postdoc will also play a leadership role in co-mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, organizing seminars and RTG activities, and teaching one course per semester in the Department of Statistics or Mathematics. The position is for up to three years, contingent on performance, and is anticipated to start in August 2026. It includes an annual salary and an additional annual budget for travel, materials, and support.
Applicants must have a PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline awarded before August 1st, 2026. Only U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents are eligible for NSF-funded RTG support. The university values diversity and encourages applicants from all backgrounds.
Application materials include a cover letter, CV, research and teaching statements, and three reference letters. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. For more information or to apply, visit the jobs.ncsu.edu website.
