About this position
Exciting PhD opportunity in bioinspired membrane technology!
I’m excited to announce a new, fully-funded PhD studentship at the @Aston Institute for Membrane Excellence (AIME)! This project will dive into pioneering research on bioinspired membranes for lithium recovery, addressing critical challenges in energy storage. If you have a passion for biotechnology, polymer science, or membrane biophysics, this is the project for you!
Project title: Bioinspired Membranes for Lithium Recovery
Duration: 4 years, starting October 2025
Funding: Full tuition fees + an annual maintenance allowance of £19,237
Project highlights:
Develop cutting-edge bioinspired membranes that mimic the selective transport properties of biological systems.
Address the growing demand for efficient lithium recovery, a critical component in electric vehicle batteries and renewable energy storage.
Gain hands-on experience in a vibrant interdisciplinary lab, working with leading experts in membrane science.
Who should apply:
Applicants should have a Master's degree or a strong undergraduate degree in a relevant subject (biological or physical sciences).
Desirable experience in membrane protein or lipid biochemistry.
Open to UK students only.
