PhD Position: One Health Approach to Address Antimicrobial ResistanceInstitution: University of Nebraska-LincolnDescriptionDr. Xu Li’s lab in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking a doctoral student to start in Spring 2025. Dr. Li’s research revolves around microbes critical to environmental quality and public health. By working at the interface of environmental engineering and applied microbiology, his research group aims to advance knowledge on microbial communities relevant to contaminant biotransformation, resource recovery, and antimicrobial resistance. The doctoral student will work on a research project that aims to study the role of the environmental component of the One Health approach in addressing antimicrobial resistance.The successful candidate should have a bachelor’s and/or a master’s degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or a closely related field; strong academic records; excellent English communication skills; and high self-motivation. Experiences with molecular biology techniques (e.g., quantitative PCR and next generation sequencing) and bioinformatics are desirable, but not required.Applicants may submit their applications online (https://lnkd.in/gvSB-atF).
