The programme is taught in English, making it accessible to international students. While German language skills are not required, they are helpful, and German courses are offered at various levels. Tuition fees are waived, but students must pay a semester contribution of approximately 350 EUR, which includes free use of regional public transport. Living costs are estimated at a minimum of 860 EUR per month, covering accommodation, health insurance, books, and miscellaneous expenses. The university does not offer funding opportunities for this programme, so students are responsible for their own financial support.

Applicants must hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) in physics, chemistry, biology, materials science, or a related field. Good knowledge of English is mandatory for participation in research and academic activities. The application deadlines are 15 January for the summer semester and 15 July for the winter semester. Accommodation is available through the student services office, which offers modern single rooms in dormitories and assistance in finding private rooms and flats.
