PhD Position in Social Influence, Group Dynamics, and Network Analysis at Masaryk University Masaryk University in Czech Republic

Masaryk University’s Department of Psychology and the Behaviors of Individuals and Groups (BIG) lab in Brno, Czech Republic, are inviting applications for a fully funded PhD position. The research focuses on how social groups, networks, and segregation shape the spread of attitudes and behaviors, with a particular emphasis on social influence, group dynamics, and network analysis. The project utilizes longitudinal school network data and advanced quantitative and computational methods to investigate the diffusion of attitudes and behaviors such as prejudice, pro-environmental actions, and academic motivation. The aim is to inform interventions that promote positive change while avoiding unintended consequences.

The ideal candidate will have or be completing a Master’s degree in psychology, sociology, political science, education, data science, or a related field. Strong quantitative skills are required, and experience with network analysis is appreciated but not mandatory. Excellent English proficiency and a willingness to relocate to Brno are essential. Funding includes a standard salary (32,000 CZK, taxed) and a PhD scholarship (16,000 CZK, tax-free) per month.
