The Zampieri Lab at the University of Basel is offering a PhD position focused on the systems biology of cancer metastasis. The successful candidate will work on a project investigating how metabolic programs enable cancer cells to metastasize and colonize distant tissues, using advanced mouse models and in close collaboration with the Bentires Lab. The project is fundamentally experimental, requiring hands-on in vivo mouse work, including tumor models, animal handling, injections, tissue collection, and monitoring. High-throughput metabolic profiling, computational data analysis, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) of pooled CRISPR libraries are integral parts of the research, providing a systems-level approach to understanding cancer metabolism.

Applicants must have a Master's degree in a relevant field such as (Bio-)Physics, (Bio-)Engineering, Biological Sciences, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Systems Biology, Molecular Biology, or Bioinformatics/Computational Biology. Documented hands-on experience with in vivo mouse experiments and LTK-1 certification are essential. Additional desirable skills include experience with intracardiac injections, bioluminescence imaging, and proficiency in programming languages like MATLAB, R, or Python. Excellent communication skills and motivation to work in an international, interdisciplinary environment are required.
