The University of Hamburg in Germany is inviting applications for doctoral researcher positions within the DFG Graduate Program “Collective Decision-Making.” This structured PhD program, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), focuses on both the descriptive and normative dimensions of collective decision-making, with a strong interdisciplinary approach. The program is designed for candidates interested in Economics, Philosophy, or Political Science, and offers comprehensive training in theoretical, empirical, and normative research methods, including experimental approaches.

Doctoral researchers will actively participate in the graduate program, complete a doctoral dissertation in one of the three core disciplines, and engage in interdisciplinary seminars, workshops, and collaborations. The research aims to equip graduates with expertise in designing decision-making procedures for complex societal governance challenges. The program language is English, and presence in Hamburg is required except for research-related absences.

Applicants must have a Master’s degree in Economics, Philosophy, Political Science, or a closely related interdisciplinary field, with a combined total of 300 ECTS points from Bachelor and Master studies. A strong academic background, research potential, and excellent writing skills are essential.
