About this position
The Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam is offering three fully funded PhD positions in the field of hereditary and early-onset breast cancer epidemiology as part of the HER-CARE Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network. This international program brings together 9 academic and 3 industry partners across Europe, providing a unique multidisciplinary training environment for doctoral candidates. The positions are based in the Marjanka Schmidt Group and focus on three main research areas: risk and protective factors for breast cancer development, risk modelling and online tools for shared decision making, and genomic signatures of early-onset tumours.
PhD candidates will conduct innovative research using large-scale datasets to improve breast cancer care, participate in international research visits and secondments, and receive comprehensive training in epidemiology, biostatistics, computational biology, and genomics. The HER-CARE network aims to advance personalized prevention and clinical management strategies for breast cancer, with projects involving the development of predictive models, integration of genomic and clinical data, and collaboration with leading institutions such as the University of Oxford and the Cambridge Centre for Cancer Genetic Epidemiology.
Applicants must have a MSc degree in a relevant discipline (epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, computational biology, public health, data science, or population genetics) and meet the Marie Skłodowska-Curie mobility and degree requirements. The positions offer a competitive salary, generous benefits, and a dynamic international research environment. Applications are open until December 31, 2025. For more information, visit the HER-CARE website or contact [email protected].
