About this position

The University of Vigo is offering a PhD research staff position within the School of Telecommunication Engineering, focused on advanced research in THz spectrometry, electromagnetic compatibility, and the characterisation of radiating and radar systems. The successful candidate will engage in a variety of experimental and applied research activities, including the integration and verification of acquisition systems for both laboratory and field measurements, assembly and testing of optical communication systems, and the planning and management of experimental activities related to communication signals and system characterisation.

The role involves hands-on work with state-of-the-art equipment such as RF and optical spectrum analysers, vector network analysers, signal generators, arbitrary wave generators, antenna positioning systems, software defined radio modules, and a range of THz spectrometers. Candidates will also be expected to develop customised applications for control, monitoring, data acquisition, and processing using MATLAB and Python (across Windows and Linux platforms), and to integrate systems for synchronised acquisition and aggregation of diverse data sources, including digitised signals, geopositioning data, inertial units, and video/images.

The position is full-time (37.5 hours per week) and offers a competitive salary of 2575 € per month (including extra payments). The selection process is merit-based, with candidates evaluated on academic qualifications, relevant experience, technical skills, and a personal interview for the top-ranked applicants. Applicants must demonstrate at least 5 years of relevant experience and strong English language skills.

The University of Vigo is located in Vigo, Pontevedra (Galicia), Spain, and provides a dynamic research environment with access to cutting-edge facilities. The application deadline is April 22, 2026. For further details and to apply, visit the official application portal.
