About this position

The PhD specialisation in Marketing at BI Norwegian Business School offers a rigorous academic pathway for candidates aspiring to become leading scholars in marketing. The Department of Marketing is internationally recognized, publishing in top journals such as the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Research, Marketing Science, and the International Journal of Research in Marketing. The department covers three core areas: marketing, consumer behavior, marketing strategy, and marketing modelling, and fosters a vibrant, international research environment with strong representation at major conferences.

Graduates from the PhD programme have secured placements at prestigious institutions including the University of Manchester, Bayes Business School, Grenoble Ecole de Management, Nanyang Technological University, and the University of Groningen. Close collaborations with industry partners provide opportunities for field projects, proprietary datasets, and externally funded research.

The programme is structured to support your development from early idea exploration to full scholarly independence, with clear milestones, academic career preparation, and quality-assured supervision. Systematic support for publication, funding for major international conferences, and early exposure to leading research arenas are provided. This open call welcomes applicants to propose projects within any of the department’s core areas.
