The university fosters interdisciplinary collaboration across natural sciences, engineering, humanities, social sciences, and medicine, and is committed to diversity, innovation, and active participation. The Faculty of Computer Science, Institute of Theoretical Computer Science, and the newly established Chair of Algorithmic and Structural Graph Theory invite applications for a Research Associate / PhD Student position. The role is designed for candidates aiming to obtain a PhD and is initially funded for three years, with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research group focused on the design and analysis of graph algorithms, with research topics including parameterized algorithms, structural graph theory, graph symmetries and similarities, and algorithmic model theory. Responsibilities include conducting scientific research, publishing and presenting results at top-tier theoretical computer science venues, and contributing to teaching activities, such as mentoring M.Sc., B.Sc., or Diploma students. Applicants should have or be close to completing an M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related field, with demonstrated research experience through publications or a relevant thesis. Strong knowledge of algorithms and discrete mathematics, as well as excellent English communication skills, are required. Knowledge of German or willingness to learn is desirable due to teaching duties. TUD Dresden is committed to equal opportunity and encourages applications from women and candidates with disabilities.
