An exciting opportunity is available for a PhD student, research associate, or visiting scholar at The City College of New York (CCNY), part of the City University of New York (CUNY). The position is based in the Civil Engineering Department and focuses on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and ocean flow research. The primary aim is to simulate coastal ocean flows and investigate fluid-structure interaction using both existing software and newly developed numerical models. This research is highly interdisciplinary, combining civil engineering, mechanical engineering, marine engineering, and applied mathematics.

CCNY is the flagship campus of CUNY, located in Manhattan, New York City. It is renowned for its diverse student body and academic excellence, having produced numerous engineers, business leaders, and scientists, including Nobel Prize winners and Fields medalists. Applicants should be highly motivated and goal-oriented, with an MS degree in mechanical, civil, or ocean engineering, applied mathematics, or related fields. Solid knowledge in mathematics and physics is essential. Experience in computer programming, flow modeling, and algorithm development is preferred, and candidates with backgrounds in both mathematics and engineering are especially encouraged to apply.
