About this position

Two awards are available to fund students to undertake PhD research in arts and humanities and to share the role of Managing Editor for the prestigious journal Modernism/ modernity . The studentships will provide an enhanced experience through professional development activities, mentoring, and collaborative working as part of an international team. The successful candidates will be working with the incoming co-editor of Modernism/modernity , Professor Faye Hammill.

The Managing Editor role involves project managing the print issues and online content for an interdisciplinary journal with editorial offices at the University of Glasgow and Rutgers University in the US. This will include: setting schedules and ensuring they are kept to; liaising with authors, journal editors and copyeditors; citation checking; and proofreading.

We are seeking candidates with some experience of project management and/or editorial or publishing work and/or employment in an administrative role.

Preference will be given to candidates whose project, in any discipline, relates to the work of the " Modernities " research cluster at the University of Glasgow. Candidates working in other fields are also eligible.

Awards are available for up to four years, renewable annually. It is expected that work on the journal will occupy approximately one day per week for each Managing Editor, but workloads will vary across the year.

In addition to an application for PhD research on a topic of your choosing, you will need to complete a separate form applying for the Managing Editor positions.
