About this position

The Division of Environmental Health Sciences in the College of Public Health at Ohio State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to lead and support advanced research on antibiotic resistance. The primary focus is on clinical bacterial isolates, with complementary investigations into foodborne pathogens. This multidisciplinary program explores molecular mechanisms of resistance, novel antimicrobial strategies, and the epidemiology of resistant bacteria across healthcare and food systems.

The position offers opportunities to contribute to research in bacteriophage therapy, microbiome and resistome analysis, and antimicrobial development, as well as teaching, developing new studies, and collaborating on ongoing projects. Candidates should have hands-on experience with clinical and foodborne bacterial isolates, proficiency in molecular biology techniques, genome sequencing, and antibiotic susceptibility testing. Experience with tissue culture assays and advanced bioinformatics, particularly microbiome and resistome analysis, is required. Strong scientific writing skills, experience in manuscript preparation, and the ability to contribute to grant writing are essential.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, collegial, and eager to contribute to a supportive environment, with demonstrated ability to manage laboratory operations, mentor junior researchers, and publish peer-reviewed research. The position is contingent upon funding and will end on or before December 31, 2026, with the possibility of renewal based on continued availability of funding and performance. The annual salary is $61,008. Final candidates are subject to a background check, and a drug screen or physical may be required during the post-offer process.

Ohio State University is an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and inclusion. Applicants should apply through the university's career site, ensuring all necessary documents are prepared and candidate profiles are updated prior to submission.
