The successful candidate will play a leading role in advancing research and experimental work on SDN, NFV, and container-based network architectures, contributing to innovative research directions, prototype design, and implementation, as well as the development of demonstrators and proof-of-concept systems. The role involves collaboration within the HybridNetLab and dissemination of research through publications and presentations at top-tier conferences. Applicants must have a PhD in Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science/Engineering with a focus on SDN/NFV, and possess strong expertise in relevant technologies and frameworks such as Kubernetes, Docker, OpenStack, and network emulation tools.
Experience with 5G/6G network architectures, software engineering skills, and a solid publication record are required. The position offers a fixed-term contract of 24 months with a yearly gross salary of EUR 85,176, access to high-quality equipment, and a dynamic, multicultural environment.

Applicants must hold a PhD degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science/Engineering with a focus on SDN/NFV. Strong expertise in SDN, orchestration, NFV, and container technologies is required, along with hands-on experience with tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Docker Compose, Docker Swarm, OpenStack, Ryu/ONOS/OpenDayLight, and related frameworks. Familiarity with network emulation/simulation environments (e.g., Mininet, NS-3), MANO platforms (e.g., OSM), and a solid understanding of 5G/6G network architectures are considered strong assets. Proven software engineering and coding skills in languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, Go, or Rust are required. Candidates should have a sound publication track record, experience with industrial collaborations or public-funded research projects, and international experience is desirable. Excellent teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills are essential. Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.
