About this position

The Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) invites applications for a four-year postdoctoral position in Food Processing within the SciFood research group at the Faculty of Chemistry, Biotechnology and Food Science (KBM). This opportunity is ideal for candidates passionate about advancing sustainable food systems and contributing to the transformation of the Norwegian food industry. The postdoctoral fellow will define their research plan collaboratively with the SciFood group and food industry partners, focusing on resource utilisation, food waste reduction, environmental impact minimisation, and sustainable processing of healthy and safe foods. The role includes teaching Food Processing courses (Food Processing II and III), co-supervising Master’s and PhD students, and contributing to capacity-building courses for the Norwegian food industry. The vibrant research environment at KBM consists of professors, engineers, PhD candidates, and Master’s students, fostering innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Applicants must hold a Norwegian doctoral degree in a relevant subject area or an equivalent foreign doctoral degree. Required qualifications include research experience in food processing, ability to teach unit operations at bachelor’s and master’s levels, and proficiency in Norwegian/Scandinavian language and English. Advantageous skills include expertise in separation techniques, bioprocesses, analytical methods, data analysis, industrial collaboration, research-based innovation, and teaching experience. Personal qualities such as initiative, creativity, motivation for academic writing and teaching, strong communication skills, and a positive, solution-oriented attitude are highly valued.
