About this position

Postdoctoral Fellow opportunity at the University of Alberta in the Macauley Lab, working in the general areas of glycobiology and glycomics. The lab studies the role of the Siglec family of immunomodulatory glycan-binding receptors in human health and disease, with a strong focus on understanding how Siglecs influence cancer immunity.

The successful candidate will join a highly interdisciplinary environment at the Gunning/Lemieux Chemistry Centre and will work on projects related to discovering roles for Siglec in cancer. The research includes understanding biological ligands of Siglecs on cancer cells and applying innovative glycomics approaches such as proximity labelling and mass spectrometry. The position is also connected to GlycoNet Integrated Services to help advance technologies for the broader research community.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a Ph.D. in chemical biology, biochemistry, or a related field. Prior experience with cell culture, glycomics, microscopy (including immunohistochemical techniques), and biochemical techniques is highly desirable. The ideal candidate should demonstrate excellent laboratory skills, independence, resourcefulness, strong communication and organizational skills, and a proven publication record.

The appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal. The post mentions that funding through multiple sources is in place to advance the research program. Applications are accepted until May 15.

To apply, email your CV, a brief cover letter, and the names of 3 potential references to Dr. Macauley.
