About this position
The Faculty of Sciences Semlalia at University Cadi Ayyad in Marrakech, Morocco, is inviting applications for a postdoctoral researcher position as part of the CYCLOLIVE PRIMA Project. This project, titled "From waste to resource: ReCYCLing OLIVE oil extraction byproducts for sustainable agricultural practices in the Mediterranean region," focuses on renewable energy and environmental sustainability.
The postdoctoral researcher will work on developing accurate numerical models to simulate the thermal and dynamic performance of a solar furnace system, with a particular emphasis on the carbonization process of olive pomace for biochar production. The research will involve advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations using ANSYS Fluent or COMSOL Multiphysics, as well as the design and optimization of solar thermal systems. The project aims to optimize system design and operational efficiency, ensuring high-quality biochar production while minimizing energy losses.
Key responsibilities include numerical modeling of the carbonization process, design and sizing of a solar furnace with a Schifflar parabolic concentrator, optimization of activated carbon production parameters, physico-chemical characterization of the produced carbon, and preparation of scientific reports and articles.
Applicants must have a PhD in Energy Engineering, Renewable Energy and Environment, or a related field, with strong expertise in heat transfer, mass transfer, and renewable energy systems. Proficiency in numerical modeling (ANSYS Fluent or COMSOL Multiphysics), experience in solar thermal system design, and the ability to conduct independent experimental research are required. Strong scientific writing and teamwork skills are also essential.
The position offers a monthly gross stipend of 8,000.00 MAD for six months, renewable once. The application deadline is 12 March 2026, with interviews and notifications on 14 March 2026 and a starting date of 16 March 2026. To apply, candidates should send a single PDF containing a motivation letter, CV, PhD diploma or certificate, and internship certificates to [email protected].
This opportunity is ideal for researchers interested in renewable energy, numerical modeling, solar thermal systems, and sustainable agricultural practices.
