About this position

Stanford University’s Department of Ophthalmology, under the mentorship of Dr. Ahmad Al-Moujahed, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join a dynamic translational research program focused on the mechanisms and therapeutic targets of inherited retinal degenerations (IRDs). The research group integrates single-cell transcriptomics, proteomics, retinal biology, and disease modeling to understand photoreceptor degeneration and develop novel therapeutic strategies for vision loss. The successful candidate will lead interdisciplinary projects involving bioinformatic analysis of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and proteomics datasets, design and execute experiments investigating retinal degeneration mechanisms using cell culture and animal models, and perform molecular and cell biology techniques such as immunofluorescence, PCR/qPCR, and protein analysis. Experience with retinal organoids, mouse retinal phenotyping (including ERG, fundus photography, and OCT), and integration of multi-omics datasets is highly valued.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in computational biology, neuroscience, stem cell biology, ophthalmology, or a related field, with demonstrated experience in bioinformatics analysis and a strong publication record. Preferred candidates will have experience in retinal biology, inherited retinal diseases, mouse eye imaging, electrophysiology, and stem cell culture. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
