About this position

Multiple fully funded postdoctoral positions are available in the area of Resilient Human-Machine-AI Autonomy, with a focus on nonlinear and stochastic control theory. The positions are part of a new government-sponsored, multi-university project led by Prof. SooJean Han (KAIST, School of Electrical Engineering) and Prof. Hiroyasu Tsukamoto (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Department of Aerospace Engineering). Research topics include human-machine-AI autonomy, large language models (LLMs), vision-language models (VLAMs), and advanced control theory.

The selected postdocs will be jointly appointed by KAIST and UIUC, with the primary work location in Korea. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in a relevant field and reside in Korea during the appointment. Candidates from related fields are encouraged to apply, especially those with experience in AI, robotics, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or control theory. The positions are fully funded, with salary and benefits following both institutions’ standards and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until all positions are filled. To apply, candidates should email their CV and a short summary of research experience and interests to Prof. SooJean Han ([email protected]) and Prof. Hiroyasu Tsukamoto ([email protected]). For more information, candidates can visit the supervisors’ academic pages or LinkedIn profiles. This is an excellent opportunity for postdoctoral researchers interested in cutting-edge research at the intersection of AI, autonomy, and control theory, with strong international collaboration between Korea and the United States.
