About this position

Leuphana University of Lüneburg is seeking a Research Associate (postdoctoral or advanced doctoral researcher) to join the Vegetation Ecology and Biodiversity Conservation Group at the Institute of Ecology, School of Sustainability. The group investigates plant functional traits, ecosystem functioning, and the drivers and consequences of biodiversity loss, using field studies, experimental approaches, and advanced data analysis methods. Research areas include biodiversity research, biotic interactions, biogeography, biological invasions, functional ecology, and global change ecology. The position involves participation in ongoing research projects (notably BEF-China), publishing in international journals, acquiring third-party funding, teaching (4 SWS) in bachelor’s and master’s programs, and co-supervising doctoral researchers. Teaching in English is possible.

Applicants must have a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in ecology, environmental sciences, or a related field; a completed doctorate is advantageous. Required qualifications include research experience in relevant areas, peer-reviewed publications, experience designing ecological studies, botanical knowledge, and strong skills in data analysis and statistical modelling with R. Excellent English communication, flexibility, teamwork, willingness to conduct fieldwork, and a valid driving licence recognised in Germany are essential.
