About this position

The Faculty of Computing and Telecommunications at Poznan University of Technology is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join the prestigious MAESTRO project, "Intelligent Decision Support Based on Explanatory Analytics of Preference Data," led by Professor Roman Słowiński. This interdisciplinary and pioneering project aims to develop innovative algorithms and conduct computational experiments, with the goal of publishing in leading scientific journals. The research focuses on consensus reaching processes in group decision-making, explanatory models of decision-makers’ preferences, and the construction of classifier ensembles composed of diverse sets of decision rules.

As part of an international team, the successful candidate will collaborate with the University of Catania, including opportunities for visits, and participate in scientific conferences both domestically and abroad to present project results. The project leverages advanced operational research and artificial intelligence techniques, particularly in intelligent decision support systems. Example publications related to the project include works on consensus modeling, customer churn prediction, and multi-objective search for rule ensembles.

The position is funded with a competitive salary of PLN 8,660 gross per month for 12 months, with the possibility of extension. Employment is offered via a formal contract, and the start date is flexible between June and September 2026. Applicants must hold a PhD degree (obtained no earlier than January 1, 2019) in computer science, econometrics, management, or mathematics, from an institution other than Poznan University of Technology, or have completed a qualifying postdoctoral fellowship. Candidates whose doctoral defense is scheduled before September 1, 2026, may also apply with appropriate confirmation. Essential skills include knowledge of operational research and artificial intelligence, proficiency in Java and Matlab programming, documented research experience with relevant publications, and strong English communication skills. Personal attributes such as motivation, creativity, independence, reliability, and teamwork are highly valued.

To apply, candidates should submit a CV with cover letter, PhD diploma and dissertation description, list and copies of up to three best publications, reference contact, statements of English and programming proficiency, and consent for data processing to [email protected] by May 12, 2026. Additional job details are available at https://put.poznan.pl/oferty-pracy. The competition outcome will be announced by May 22, 2026. This opportunity offers a stimulating research environment, international collaboration, and the chance to contribute to cutting-edge developments in intelligent decision support systems at a leading Polish university.
