About this position
University College London is advertising a 36-month postdoctoral research position in island evolution, functional morphology, palaeontology, biomechanics, and quantitative evolutionary analysis. The project is part of the Leverhulme-funded study “Adaptation and niche shifts in island giants” and is based with Dr Phil Cox at the UCL Centre for Integrative Anatomy.
The successful researcher will work with a broad CT dataset of mammal skulls, including fossil island giants and their mainland relatives, and will apply geometric morphometrics, finite element analysis, and adaptive landscape methods. The role also involves collaboration with a second postdoc working on stable isotope analyses to connect morphology with dietary ecology.
This opportunity is aimed at candidates with strong interests in evolutionary biology, functional morphology, palaeontology, and biomechanics, especially those comfortable with quantitative and interdisciplinary research. The post is a research job, not a degree programme, and no scholarship or tuition information is stated in the post.
Application deadline: 27 April 2026.
How to apply: Use the UCL job advert link to access the official application portal and follow the instructions in the full posting. Review the advert carefully for required documents and submission details before the deadline.
