About this position

University of Cambridge is advertising a postdoctoral Research Associate / experienced Research Assistant opening in the El-Erian Institute of Behavioural Economics & Policy for a new Horizon Europe project on sustainable consumption and transitions to the circular economy.

The project examines consumer behaviour and behavioural interventions across key sectors including clothing, mobility, electronics, and food packaging. The successful candidate will work closely with the PI, Prof Lucia Reisch, and the Cambridge team within a multinational consortium of researchers, companies, and societal institutions.

Core work includes empirical and conceptual research, co-designing and testing pilot interventions, writing reports and intervention designs, and communicating with project partners. The role also offers experience in large project management and opportunities to publish in high-level journals.

Ideal applicants have an excellent publication record and experience with literature reviews, preferably using AI tools for evidence synthesis, field experiments, qualitative and quantitative analyses, and behavioural change interventions. Strong training in experimental and quantitative methods is expected, including SPSS, STATA, R, or Python, multivariate statistics, and causal modelling. Experience with cloud infrastructure is desirable. A background in behavioural economics, cognitive psychology, or a related discipline is preferred, with a strong interest in the circular economy.

The post is fixed term for 3 years and includes membership of Queens' College, Cambridge. Applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

How to apply: submit the online application form with a cover letter, CV, statement of research and teaching expertise, a job market paper or signature publication, and contact details for two referees. Quote reference NS49363. Informal queries can be sent to [email protected].
