Call for Expressions of Interest – MSCA PF and ERA Fellowships 2026 at Riga Technical University (Latvia)
Riga Technical University (RTU) in Latvia invites expressions of interest for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF) and ERA Fellowship 2026. RTU is a leading technical university in the Baltic region, offering a vibrant international research environment with over 15,000 students and a strong focus on STEM and humanities disciplines. The Institute of Sustainable Building Materials and Engineering Systems, part of the Faculty of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, is seeking outstanding postdoctoral researchers to join its team and conduct research in advanced building materials and sustainable engineering.
Research areas include advanced composites and lightweight materials for sustainability, CO₂-neutral building materials, life cycle assessment (LCA) of construction processes, durable and energy-efficient materials, and innovative technologies such as 3D concrete printing and bio-based or CCUS materials. The institute provides expert supervision, access to state-of-the-art facilities for material characterization and structural engineering, and a diverse, multicultural research team.
Successful applicants will benefit from the unique 'Double Chance' offered by RTU: if you narrowly miss the MSCA cut-off, you are automatically eligible for the ERA Fellowship, which provides equivalent funding and prestige. The fellowships cover salary, research costs, and mobility allowance, enabling researchers to focus on impactful projects in sustainable construction and materials science.
Eligibility requirements include holding or defending a PhD by 9 September 2026, having no more than 8 years of full-time research experience since PhD award, and not having resided or worked in Latvia for more than 12 months prior to the deadline. Applicants should prepare a CV (up to 5 pages), a brief research outline (1-2 pages), and a motivation letter (1 page) explaining their interest in RTU.
To apply, send your documents to Tenure Professor Diana Bajare at [email protected]. For informal inquiries about the research team or proposal development, contact Dr. Jeonghyun Kim at [email protected]. The application deadline is 1 May 2026. For more information, visit
