PhD Position in Polymer Electrolyte Materials for Solid Organic Batteries at POLYMAT

A PhD position is available at POLYMAT, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Spain, in the group of Dr. Irune Villaluenga, as part of the European project “Cross-border development of solid organic batteries for sustainable electric mobility and sustainable stationary storage applications” (TRANS-BORDER). The project is coordinated by Dr. Nicolas Goujon (UPV/EHU) and involves collaboration with Arkema (France), IMT Mines Alès (France), and the Villaluenga Lab group at POLYMAT. The research will focus on the development and characterization of polymer electrolyte materials for solid organic batteries, aiming to advance sustainable energy and storage technologies. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary and multicultural team, contributing to innovative solutions for future energy systems. Applicants must hold a BSc and MSc in Material Science, Polymer Chemistry, or Electrochemistry, and demonstrate strong experimental and communication skills. Enthusiasm for research and innovation is essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment. The fellowship supports a challenging 3-year research project, with funding provided through the European project and POLYMAT's commitment to HR Excellence in Research. To apply, candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a short description of previous research (1-2 pages), and the names and contact details of two academic referees. Applications should be sent to Dr. Irune Villaluenga at [email protected] before December 19, 2025. Applications are reviewed upon arrival, but individual feedback to unsuccessful applicants may not be provided due to high volume. This opportunity is ideal for candidates interested in polymer materials, battery technology, and sustainable energy research, offering a supportive and internationally recognized research environment at POLYMAT.
