PhD in Human-Centered Generative AI Creativity Support Tools for Knowledge Work

Aalborg University, Department of Computer Science, invites applications for a fully funded 3-year PhD position in Human-Centered Generative Creativity Support Tools for Knowledge Work, based at the Copenhagen campus. This interdisciplinary project focuses on developing and evaluating human-centered generative AI tools to support creative knowledge work, emphasizing participatory design and critical alternatives to current generative AI systems. The research aims to contribute empirical, theoretical, and methodological advancements in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), generative AI, and creativity research, with expected dissemination at top venues such as CHI, DIS, and CSCW. The successful candidate will join the Human Augmentation and Collaboration research group, gaining access to state-of-the-art computational resources and opportunities for international research stays. The position is funded by a DFF: Inge Lehmann grant and offers employment under the Danish AC collective agreement. The department is recognized for its excellence in research and strong industry collaboration. Applicants must have a relevant MSc degree (e.g., HCI, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Product Development, Knowledge Work Studies) and demonstrate strong skills in HCI, UX/UI design, prototyping, software development, and creativity research. Experience with large language model (LLM) integration and participatory design is required, and excellent English communication skills are essential. Preferred candidates will have prior experience in HCI, LLM prototyping, participatory design, or UX/UI research.
