Stockholm University is offering a fully funded four-year PhD position in Political Science with a focus on Politics and Artificial Intelligence. The position is part of the WASP-HS Research Cluster “AI, Power, and Politics,” a collaboration between Stockholm University, University of Gothenburg, Umeå University, and the Institute for Futures Studies. The research aims to analyze how AI-driven technologies mediate power relations, influence political deliberation, and challenge democratic values. The PhD project should address one of the following themes: implications of AI for opinion dynamics and public trust in media, effects of AI on democratic values (legitimacy, accountability, transparency, inclusivity, trust), or how AI reshapes governance and power relations nationally and globally. The WASP-HS program provides interdisciplinary training, research visits, and networking opportunities. Applicants must have a relevant master’s degree, strong academic record, and proficiency in English. The position is salaried and may include up to 20% teaching or administrative duties.
