The University of Aveiro's Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies (CESAM) is offering a Postdoctoral Research Scholarship (BIPD) as part of the REUSE project, which focuses on enzymatic CO2 capture in a rotating packed bed and electrocatalytic CO2 reduction to useful products. This project is funded by Horizon Europe and aims to advance scientific understanding and practical applications in environmental engineering, biochemistry, and chemical engineering. The successful candidate will work on literature reviews of co-combustion and co-gasification processes for energy production, explore synergies with enzymatic components in packed-bed reactors, and conduct numerical simulations of biomass decomposition and transformation. Responsibilities also include disseminating research results, preparing progress reports and scientific articles, and supporting project management activities. The position is based at the Department of Environment and Planning and CESAM, under the supervision of Doctor Valter Bruno Reis e Silva and Professor Luís António da Cruz Tarelho, with additional committee members providing guidance. The scholarship lasts for six months, starting in November 2025, and may be renewed within the limits of approved funding.
