PhD Opportunities in Environmental Science, Ecology, Geoscience, and Related Fields (IAPETUS Partnership)

The IAPETUS partnership, funded by NERC, offers PhD opportunities for the 2026/27 cohort across a range of universities in Northern England and Southern Scotland, including Newcastle University, Durham University, University of Stirling, and others. Projects span diverse research areas such as environmental science, ecology, geoscience, climate change, biodiversity, biogeochemical cycles, hazards, and ecosystem monitoring. Studentships are fully funded, covering tuition and a stipend, with some projects offering additional CASE studentships in collaboration with industry or research organizations. Applicants should have a strong academic background in a relevant field and a keen interest in the advertised research themes.
