Bachelor's in Lifelong Learning and Sustainable Development at University of Eastern Finland

The University of Eastern Finland offers a Bachelor's Degree Programme in Lifelong Learning and Sustainable Development, designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to promote education as a key driver of sustainable development. The programme emphasizes lifelong learning across the lifespan and explores its role in fostering social and cultural sustainability. Students will engage in a multicultural environment, learning how sustainable development can be advanced both locally and globally through innovative educational methods, including intergenerational, informal, and nonformal learning in various settings such as associations, workplaces, and civic movements. The curriculum includes basic and intermediate studies in education, methodological training, thematic studies on globalization and sustainability, and opportunities for project-based and service learning. Students will develop working-life skills and networks, preparing them for diverse career paths in education, policy, development projects, and cooperation. The programme does not confer teacher qualifications but provides competencies applicable to a wide range of professions. Graduates may continue to a master's programme at the university. Admission requires completion of upper secondary education and proof of English proficiency. Applicants may apply via an online interview (Admission group I) or through the Open University route (Admission group II) after completing 25 ECTS of relevant studies.
