There are two fully funded academic opportunities highlighted. The first is the South-East Doctoral Training Arc (SEDarc) Studentship, funded by the ESRC, available at the University of Kent and partner institutions. This studentship is open to Indonesian, Indian, and African students and covers both a 3.5-year PhD or a 1-year Master’s plus 3.5-year PhD pathway in the social sciences. The second is a PhD studentship at the University of Warwick, focused on developing a vision-based, marker-less navigation system for Total Hip Replacement surgery. This interdisciplinary project is supervised by Dr Arnab Palit and Prof Andy Metcalfe and funded by the EPSRC DLA Interdisciplinary Scholarships. It is open only to UK (Home Fee) students and is ideal for candidates with backgrounds in biomechanics, computer vision, image processing, machine learning, or AI. The Warwick studentship covers full tuition, a UKRI standard stipend (~£20,780/year), a Researcher Training Support Grant, and additional benefits such as Disabled Students Allowance and paid leave. Applicants should prepare standard documents and apply via the university portal, indicating interest in the relevant studentship and contacting supervisors for further discussion. Both opportunities offer comprehensive financial support and access to vibrant research environments, with the Warwick project providing direct exposure to clinical applications in engineering and surgery.
