PhD Position in Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Idaho State University

The Department of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Idaho State University is seeking a motivated PhD-level graduate student to join the medicinal chemistry team led by Dr. Sri Nath Pashikanti for Fall 2026. The research group focuses on synthetic medicinal chemistry, enzymology, and in vivo studies, with current efforts aimed at developing and screening small molecules targeting ceramide metabolizing enzymes, which have anticancer properties. Students will receive comprehensive training in synthetic chemistry, protein biochemistry, and bioanalytical chemistry, and will have opportunities to participate in cutting-edge research in drug discovery and pharmaceutical sciences. Applicants should have a recent MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Pharmacy with a medicinal chemistry background, or an M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry with a strong interest in pursuing doctoral studies. The program requires a minimum GPA of 3.0, a GRE combined score of at least 300 with at least 50th percentile in one section, and for international students, an IELTS score of 6.5 or TOEFL iBT score of 80.
