The scholarship covers full domestic tuition fees and student service fees for up to three years, an annual living stipend of NZD $30,000, medical insurance, and research support. There are no application fees. Fees-only scholarships are available for those who request them.

What's required

Applicants must be New Zealand or international students applying for a doctoral (PhD, EdD, DHSc, DMA, SJD) or MPhil program at the University of Waikato. Candidates must have a strong academic and research record, with a minimum GPA of A– in recent years. Applicants must apply for full-time study, intend to obtain their first doctoral qualification, and not be employed at the University of Waikato. International students must provide proof of English proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL). Required documents include application form, passport, academic transcripts, diploma/degree, medical certificate, CV, motivation letter, recommendation letters (2–4), English test results, statement of purpose, certificate of research activities, graduation thesis or publications, and research project summary. All documents must be submitted in PDF format.
