The IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca invites applications for 9 fully-funded PhD positions in its Economics, Analytics and Decision Sciences (EADS) program. This multidisciplinary doctoral program is designed for international students interested in cutting-edge research across economics, management, statistics, philosophy of science, cognitive and behavioral sciences, and related fields. The EADS program emphasizes a unique approach that integrates statistics and data science as unifying languages, complemented by tools from computer science and psychology.

Students benefit from a vibrant academic environment, engaging with faculty advisors and peers from diverse backgrounds. The program offers opportunities for joint supervision and double-degree arrangements with partner universities such as KU Leuven (Belgium) and the University of Alicante (Spain). International mobility is encouraged, with research visits possible through Erasmus+ and other agreements.

PhD candidates follow a tailor-made scientific training program in their first year, then focus on independent research under faculty guidance in subsequent years. The curriculum includes seminars, conferences, workshops, and public outreach activities. Students are expected to develop at least three research papers for their doctoral thesis.

Successful applicants will receive a comprehensive scholarship for up to 48 months, covering social security, free accommodation and meals on campus, additional research and mobility funds, insurance coverage, and no tuition fees. The official language of the program is English, and the starting date is November 1, 2026.

Eligibility requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields (to be obtained by October 31st, 2026), strong quantitative skills, excellent English communication, and enthusiasm for research and policy-relevant issues.
