My lab at the Casey Eye Institute, in collaboration with the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), is seeking 2-4 motivated graduate students to join our team in the summer or fall of 2025. Our research focuses on ocular biomechanics.Position #1 (1-2 students): Candidates should have a solid background in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), fluid-structure interaction (FSI), and finite element (FE) structural analyses. Proficiency in Python programming is essential, with experience in optimization algorithms being highly desirable. You’ll be working on projects that involve complex fluid-structure interactions within the eye, requiring a strong foundation in these areas.Position #2 (1-2 students): We’re looking for candidates skilled in microfluidic device design, lab-on-a-chip technology, and cell culture/isolation techniques. Experience in developing and optimizing microchips for studying cell mechanics under shear flow is essential.
