**PhD Positions in ECE at the University of Central Florida (Fall 2025)**
Hello everyone! I’m Yue Wang, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Central Florida (UCF). My website: https://lnkd.in/e7e8Ksxm . I’m currently looking to recruit PhD students for Fall 2025.
**About My Research**
My research focuses primarily on reinforcement learning (RL), particularly its theoretical foundations. I aim to design, analyze, and optimize RL algorithms, providing rigorous theoretical guarantees on convergence, robustness, and other key properties. Current projects include:
- Robust reinforcement learning
- Transfer learning in RL
- Applications of generative models and large language models (LLMs) in RL
My work has been published in top-tier AI/ML conferences, such as ICML, NeurIPS, and AAAI, with one paper awarded the Distinguished Paper Award at AAAI 2023. I am also part of the UCF Artificial Intelligence Initiative, collaborating with researchers in computer vision, natural language processing, and other AI fields.
As a junior faculty member, I am hands-on in advising students. This includes providing (what I believe to be) promising research ideas, reading and discussing papers, refining theoretical proofs, guiding writing and revising papers, and offering coding support.

**Qualifications**
- Strong mathematical background, including calculus, linear algebra, probability and statistics, and optimization
- Programming experience is not necessarily required
